Purchasing global and tiered Planet Agriculture

Planet's area-based agriculture product is sold either for global coverage or for specific regions called tiers. Which tiers exist, and the rules for combining them, depend on which model your plan is on.

Which applies to you

Accounts on the current packages buy Planet Agriculture, the area-based agriculture package. Accounts bought before that change are on the Area Under Management model, which is no longer sold — see your purchase options for what is available now.

If your plan uses monitoring credits

Planet Agriculture is offered as Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Global Land.

  • Tiers 1, 2 and 3 may be used for agriculture use cases only.
  • Global Land may be used for other use cases as well, excluding defence and intelligence.
  • Tier 1 and Global Land are priced the same. Choosing Global Land therefore avoids having to portion quota across separate tiers.

Volume discounts are available on Agriculture Premium. Agriculture Reserved has no volume discounts. Agriculture Premium can be bought through self-service for commercial agriculture businesses with volumes under 300 km².

If your plan uses the Area Under Management model

Planet offers PlanetScope Area Under Management (AUM) for global coverage or for specific regions called tiers. The included locations for Tiers one, two and three are listed here: Area Under Management tiers location list.

You may purchase either global or tiered Area Under Management. You can choose either global or one or more tiers, but not both.
