Why Can't I Find Image Results When Querying for Old Data?

If you're having trouble finding images when searching for historical data, it might be due to your search filters. It's easy to overlook the need to adjust default filter settings, especially if we're used to assuming all available assets will be included in the results.

Keep in mind that older satellite imagery from Planet Labs typically includes only the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) bands. These images don’t have the NIR (Near-Infrared) band or other spectral bands available in more recent datasets. If your search filters are set to look specifically for images with NIR or additional bands, results for older data won’t appear.

So, make sure to uncheck any options requiring NIR or other unavailable bands in older datasets, such as:
