The limit for the number of scenes you can request in one order is 100. The limit is set because of file size and the data that has to be held in memory during the order. If the ordered data is too large, the order can fail or the zip operation can fail to complete.
SkySatCollects files are larger. Ordering more than 50 SkySatCollects scenes can cause the zip operation to fail.

thanks for the update.
Would be nice to include the order limit in API error messages coming from create_order(), when exceeding the limit. So far (at least for me) orders simply fail in such cases without any hints on why.
