A basic scene is not corrected for geometric distortions, so a cartographic projection cannot be assigned to it.
You can download a basic scene from Planet Explorer, but you need to apply the geometric corrections yourself to locate image pixels in the proper planimetric location. This correction must be applied to the entire scene. As a result, this type of asset cannot be clipped in Planet Explorer, and you need to download it as a whole.
