Planet Stories is a standalone web application that enables users to create animated stories showcasing changes over time using Planet’s satellite imagery. Unlike Planet Explorer, Planet Stories operates independently and is designed specifically for building time-lapse videos that visually highlight how an area of interest evolves.
The application allows users to manually select images from Planet’s extensive archive to assemble a custom time-lapse movie. Users can zoom in for high-frequency (daily) imagery, filter for zero cloud cover, and choose the most relevant scenes to create clear and compelling visualizations.
To function properly, Planet Stories requires scene tile access. Note that filters applied in other Planet applications do not carry over to Planet Stories.
