PSScene4Band Surface Reflectance
I have recently downloaded the raw data for PSScene4Band imagery which features for each scene the following;
- 20190713_232551_0e16_3B_AnalyticMS.tif which I understand is TOA corrected
- 20190713_232551_0e16_3B_AnalyticMS_DN_udm.tif which understand to be the unusable data mask
- 20190713_232551_0e16_3B_AnalyticMS_metadata which states that no atmospheric correction has been applied
- 20190713_232551_0e16_3B_AnalyticMS_SR.tif which when I hover over it, says that it is atmospherically corrected but when I load it into ArcGIS, it appears as if it were exactly the same as the TOA image.
I have read the product specifications for PlanetScope Scene and it is not clear what the AnalyticMS_SR.tif is. I was hoping someone could please explain to me what it is and whether it is in radiance, reflectance or DN.
Also if anyone has any experience building a raster mosaic in ArcGIS Pro using PlanetScope (either manually or using the Planet for ArcGIS tools), the build raster mosaic tool keeps failing (using ArcGIS Pro 2.4).
Thanks in advance!

Hi Amos!
The '20190713_232551_0e16_3B_AnalyticMS_SR.tif' you are viewing is our Surface Reflectance Product for that scene. The SR product is a 16-bit GeoTIFF image with reflectance values scaled by 10,000. You can read more about our SR products in the following specification guides:
Planet Imagery Product Specifications (May 2019): https://assets.planet.com/docs/combined-imagery-product-spec-final-may-2019.pdfPlanet Surface Reflectance Product Guide (Feb 2018): https://assets.planet.com/marketing/PDF/Planet_Surface_Reflectance_Technical_White_Paper.pdf
I recommend posting your question about building raster mosaics in ArcGIS as a separate thread as other users may be able to assist you with the mosaic tool.
Best,
Seth Pickford
