pre-2016 images for Mosul, Iraq

Hello. I am searching for PlanetScope scenes for the area of Mosul, Iraq for the period of 2013-2019. I am able to find images with good coverage and cloud-free for the period post 2016 but not for before that. I am wondering what is the reason maybe. Is there any way to get these scenes?

  Hi Jean-Claude,

  Older PlanetScope imagery was only captured with three bands (red, green and blue, but no near-infrared), so you will need to change the Planet Explorer settings to use the 3-band PlanetScope Scene source in order to see this imagery.

  Hi Benjamin.

  Thanks for this information. I adjusted my query accordingly, for both 2014 and 2015. For 2014, I have only one image set, which is fully covered by clouds and for 2015 I have a handful of them either with very low coverage or covered by clouds. I do not know it is my query that is not accurate or if this is all that is available for that period. 

  Can you chime in on this?

  Hi Jean-Claude,

  For Mosul, unfortunately, this does appear to be it. The number of satellites in 2015 was still quite small and many of them had much lower capacity and field of view than the ones operating today.
