When to harmonize the new PS2.SD scenes

I am interested in comparing the results of specific reflectance ratios on imagery between Planet imagery and Sentinel 2. The new PS2.SD imagery more closely matches the wavelengths in the RR I am interested in so I will only use data from PS2.SD instruments.

As per the developer information about the the PS2.SD instruments, it says "the choice of the pass-band filters for PS2.SD match closely with and are interoperable with those of Sentinel-2." (https://developers.planet.com/docs/data/sensors/)

Does this mean I should not "multiply all source bands by the bandcoefficients, then add the finalOffset to harmonize this scene to the PS2 instrument" as it instructs in the metadata.xml file provided with each scene?

It sounds as if the PS2.SD data is ready as is to be compared to Sentinel 2 data, I just want to confirm before I proceed.

Thank you very much,

    Hi Kelsee,

You are correct that PS2.SD is more inter-operable with Sentinel-2 data.

We actually have a built in harmonization tool as part of our tool kit, you can read more about it here:

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best Regards,
