Although Planet data can be used for products like Google Maps, our imagery has applications that extend beyond navigation. Google maps incorporates data from a variety of sources, including satellite imagery from companies like DigitalGlobe or public resources such as the USGS/Landsat, as well as aerial imagery captured from aircraft and street view images from cars. Planet sources imagery from our own fleet of satellites to provide medium to high resolution products.
The mission here at Planet is to capture global change and to make that change visible, accessible, and actionable to the world. To learn more about our impact check out our blog, Planet Pulse, or see us in the headlines.
