While we aim not to have any gaps between scenes, this type of gap is a relatively normal mode for operating a micro-satellite constellation. For a variety of reasons that are not required for traditional, large satellite operators, we shift our satellites’ orientation on orbit. Moving satellites orientation on orbit often leads to slightly off-nadir pointing and gaps between scenes.
A secondary reason for gaps is that we pass all images through a basic filter before we publish them to the API. For a variety of reasons (cloud cover, for example) images in one acquisition strip may not pass the filter, resulting in gaps between scenes.
