To view your collection in the Browser, you first need to create a new configuration with visualization layers. To follow the steps below, you will need an account and a collection ID. Your collection ID can be found in the Configurations page, where all configurations are listed with their Collection IDs visible, or in the BYOC/ZARR tab when creating a new configuration. There are also Planet Sandbox Data collections available, where you can find example collection IDs.
Check out how you can find a collection ID in the GIF demonstration below:
1. Create a New Configuration
1.1. Navigate to Configurations
- Go to Analyze > Configurations in the Insights Platform.
- Click on the Create new configuration button.
1.2. Select Data Source
- Enter a name for your configuration in the Configuration name field.
- Click on Select collection to open the collection picker.
- In the modal, navigate to the BYOC/ZARR tab (or Planet Sandbox Data for examples).
- Select your collection from the list. You will see the Name, ID, Type, and Created date for each collection.
- Click the Select button to confirm.
When the data source is selected, you will see the collection name and ID displayed in Step 1. Continue to section 1.3 to create a visualization layer.
1.3. Create a Visualization Layer
- Click on the Add Custom Layer button.
- Enter a Layer name and optional Layer description.
- Configure the time range by selecting Absolute or Relative, and set your start and end dates.
- Select the Mosaic order from the dropdown (for example, Most recent).
- In the Set Evalscript section, write your visualization script. For BYOC/ZARR, no data products are available. You will have to write a visualization script in the editor. To do so, you need to know which bands are available for your ingested data and their names. You can click the Evalscript Repository button for pre-made examples.
- When your evalscript is inserted, click the Create Layer button to save your layer settings.
- Repeat this process to add multiple layers if needed (for example, true color, false color, NDVI).
- When done, click the Create Configuration button to save.
2. Visualize Your Configuration in the Browser
- Open the Analyze > Browser in the Insights Platform.
- Expand the configuration dropdown menu. Find your configuration by name and select it.
- Toggle on your custom data collection found under Data Sources.
- On the map, zoom to the area where your tiles are ingested and select a time range that includes the acquisition time of your ingested tiles.
- When done, click the Search button.
- If your search parameters are set correctly, you should see your tiles listed in search results and they should appear on the map. To select one of your tiles, click on it in the results.
Your data will be visualized with the layers from your configuration. Feel free to explore them.
